Whitewater family to host event Saturday, November 16
A petting zoo, root beer float bar, food trucks and local vendors are just a few of the attractions coming to Fall on the Farm at the Klietz Family Farm in Whitewater on Saturday, November 16th from 8am – 4pm.
The event is for adults and children of all ages, and admission is free. Pasture walks with the goats, and mini horse wagon rides will be available for a small fee. The farm address is 10510 N McCord Rd, Whitewater, WI.
“There’s a bit of a lull between pumpkin patches and Christmas tree farms and events, but we’re filling that gap with a celebration for the end of our goat grazing season,” says Linda Klietz, co-owner of the farm and Grazing Goats Wisconsin. “We’ve got a unique setup with mini horses and around 500 goats, and we’re excited to share that with our community here in the Whitewater area.”
The goats on the Klietz Family Farm spend their summers traveling southern Wisconsin, managing unwanted brush and overgrowth on large parcels of land. The miniature horses are gearing up for a new business venture: Mini Hoofbeats. Fall on the Farm will serve as the official kick-off to the program.
Mini Hoofbeats will offer animal-assisted therapy to children with special needs, senior citizens and patients in recovery around South Central Wisconsin. Donations of any size will be accepted in exchange for a root beer float, and proceeds will go to administrative costs and supplies that will get the horses acclimated to different therapy environments.
“We have a long-term goal to secure sponsorships and donations so that we can keep the cost of these services minimal,” Klietz says. “We feel we can really make a difference in terms of anti-bullying with therapy sessions that promote kindness, respect, and emotional resilience. Our family can tell you all about it when we see you on Saturday!”
The root beer float bar is sponsored by Kwik Trip, Casey’s and Wal Mart. Vendors and additional sponsors interested in participating should contact Linda directly at grazinggoatswisconsin@gmail.com.
